Full job description
Provides customer assistance at the highest level to transit patrons aboard vehicles and in and around transit facilities, and assists transportation personnel as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
keeps friendly relationships with clients at all times. Engages with clients and provides efficient support in both routine and urgent circumstances.
knows and is familiar with the Authority's transit system, including its fares, schedules, routes, transfer and connecting stations, and the main Chicagoland area areas of interest.
Gap fillers and other assistance are used as needed to help patrons with limited mobility board and exit vehicles and use the ingress and egress facilities.
keeps up-to-date information to help with small operational changes to rail vehicles and support the operator when required.
Organizes and keeps an eye on station cleanliness, broken revenue equipment, and station maintenance requirements in and around the faculties. Reconciles or promptly notifies situations to the proper staff.
makes certain that the kiosk has enough up-to-date copies of forms, reports, timetables, maps, brochures, and other materials. Informs the management and courier if supplies are required. Get rid of any out-of-date versions of these resources.
Reports any accidents, suspicious behavior, disruptions, threats, fire, odd events, or other emergencies to Communication/Power Control as soon as possible, and provides all relevant information.
Verifies the authenticity of ID cards, passes, transit cards, and fare media, and promptly notifies the proper staff of any invalid material.
As needed, offers aid in evacuating people from CTA cars and/or facilities.
conducts routine station inspections to verify customer safety, equipment operation, and cleanliness at the designated station facilities. Stations may be opened and/or closed based on the assigned shift.
Performs daily inspections of station equipment and its proper operation, e.g. elevators/escalators, Customer Call Buttons, station PA system, LED signs, other ADA related equipment, etc.
Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of the fare structure, the operation and features of the Automated Fare Collection equipment, fare instruments and of all rules and procedures governing fare collection. Advises customers who experience failed fare transactions to the nearest CSR or to Customer Service and monitors station turnstiles and TCVM’s for illegal activity.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Internal
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSR
required by the Federal Transportation Administration to submit to and successfully complete drug and alcohol testing.
It is necessary to be at least 21 years old.
The CTA-issued safety vest and other uniform compliances must be worn at all times while on duty in order to preserve a tidy and professional look.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
It is necessary to be at least 21 years old.

Required to lift and deploy platform gap fillers (35 lbs.), carrying platform gap fillers, and pushing wheelchairs on platform and within rail cars.
Required to climb stairs and balancing on board inspections; assistance of passengers.
Required to stoop to maintain station appearance, picking up debris, kneeling and crouching to clear faregate jams; from side of turnstile in 16’ aisle.
Required to reach and handle to maintain information boards and posting notices.
Required to perform duties with noise and vibrations from moving trains.
Required to speak and hear to provide information, greet customers, and listen for questions, comments, and special announcements.
Required to see near for pass verification and far for observing elevators, escalators and platform for customer safety and color vision to distinguish transfer markings, passes, route maps, etc.
Vaccinated against Covid 19
